Red calipers are kind of acceptable on performance cars, or cars with enhance brakes.

Sadly, in most situations, they just painted red and not enhanced. There's a trend here among VW owners which consists of putting a GTI bumper and logos / rims / caliper paint on your standard Golf. Kinda sad. Putting GTI badges won't make your car a GTI.

I remember a black Cavalier with chrome rims (I'll use that word because that's the word bro driver would use) had chrome rims with paper thin 5-spokes and rattle can painted calipers and drums. DRUMS! Yellow. Rattle car. Drums.
